This Privacy Policy explains how WiredForWealth ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal information when you visit wiredforwealth.ca, subscribe to our newsletter, or interact with our content on third-party platforms.
WiredForWealth is a Canadian personal finance education brand operated from Barrie, Ontario. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal law that governs how Canadian private-sector organizations handle personal information in the course of commercial activity.
We collect as little personal information as we can get away with, we don't sell it, and we explain everything below in language a first-year apprentice can understand.
01 / Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Email address when you subscribe to The Inspection Report newsletter.
- Email correspondence when you contact us at gord@wiredforwealth.ca, including your email address, your name (if provided), and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Standard server logs from our web host (IONOS): IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, date and time of visit. This information is collected for security, troubleshooting, and aggregate analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies as described in Section 6.
Information we do not collect
We do not knowingly collect financial account numbers, social insurance numbers, government-issued identification, health information, or precise geolocation data. We do not require user accounts on wiredforwealth.ca.
02 / How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- To send you the newsletter you subscribed to and to manage that subscription.
- To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve our website.
- To produce aggregate, non-identifying analytics about how the site is used.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
Under PIPEDA, we will not use personal information for any purpose materially different from those identified above without first obtaining your consent.
03 / Third-Party Services
We rely on the following categories of third-party service providers. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles personal information:
- Web hosting: IONOS (Germany / Canada). Personal information processed through wiredforwealth.ca passes through IONOS infrastructure.
- Email service: Our newsletter is delivered through a third-party email service provider. Your email address is stored with this provider for the sole purpose of sending you the newsletter.
- Domain & email routing: Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Corporation) handles email routing for our @wiredforwealth.ca addresses.
- Social platforms: When you follow or interact with our content on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or Facebook, those platforms collect information about you according to their own privacy policies. We do not control and are not responsible for their practices.
04 / TikTok Integration
WiredForWealth uses TikTok's developer APIs to publish our own content (videos, captions, and metadata) to our own TikTok account (@WiredForWealth) using TikTok's Content Posting API and related developer tools.
What this means for you
- We do not use TikTok Login to authenticate visitors to wiredforwealth.ca. You do not sign in to our website with TikTok.
- We do not collect, store, or process personal information about TikTok users through our website.
- The TikTok integration is one-directional: content flows from us to TikTok, not the reverse.
If you interact with our TikTok content
When you watch, like, comment on, or share our videos on TikTok, your interactions are governed by TikTok's Privacy Policy, not this one. We may receive aggregate, non-identifying engagement metrics (such as total views or follower count) through TikTok's analytics tools.
If we ever introduce features that involve TikTok user data (for example, TikTok Login on our website, or pulling user-specific data from TikTok), we will update this section and notify newsletter subscribers before doing so.
07 / Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected:
- Newsletter email addresses: for as long as you remain subscribed, plus a short additional period to honour unsubscribe requests and comply with anti-spam law.
- Email correspondence: typically up to 24 months after the last reply, unless we are required to keep it longer for legal or accounting reasons.
- Server logs: typically rotated and overwritten within 90 days.
08 / Your Rights Under PIPEDA
You have the following rights with respect to personal information we hold about you:
- Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right of correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent to our processing at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide you with certain services (for example, the newsletter).
- Right to make a complaint: If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, you may contact us first (see Section 13) and, if unsatisfied, file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

09 / International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers (including IONOS, Microsoft 365, and the social platforms) operate or store data outside of Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. When personal information is transferred outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the country in which it is stored or processed, including lawful access by foreign authorities.
We use service providers that we believe maintain reasonable security practices and contractual safeguards, but we cannot guarantee that foreign jurisdictions will offer the same level of protection as Canadian law.
10 / Children's Privacy
WiredForWealth is intended for adult Canadian audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
11 / Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. This includes HTTPS/TLS encryption for the website, access controls on our administrative tools, and limiting personal information to what is necessary.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, please contact us immediately.
12 / Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page indicates when this Policy was most recently revised.
For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice through a banner on our website or by notifying newsletter subscribers. Your continued use of the site after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
